Definition:
BCM, Full name is the Body Control Module, is an electronic control unit, usually located on the dashboard or under the seat of the car. It acts as the brain of the car, is responsible for the control and management of Windows, lighting, door locks, seats and other systems. The functional operation of numerous parts and assemblies of the car is electronically controlled and monitored through the BCM, for enhancing the safety, comfort and convenience of automobiles.
Hardware architecture of BCM:
Microcontroller (MCU) : The core component of the BCM processes commands based on inputs from various sensors and switches and controls the work of the actuators.
Sensors and switches: used to collect various status information of the body electrical system, such as door status, window position, air conditioning temperature, etc.
Actuator: According to the instructions of the microcontroller, control the various functions of the body electrical system, such as opening and closing the door, lifting the window, adjusting the temperature of the air conditioner, etc.
Communication interface: Used to communicate with other ECUs, such as CAN bus, LIN bus, etc.
Power module: Provides power for the BCM.

Types of BCM:
Distributed BCM: Distributed in front, side, rear and inside. The wiring harness system is huge, and the body system mostly adopts LIN SLAVE structure.
Centralized BCM: The power supply, CAN transceiver and LIN transceiver are centralized on one chip to achieve centralization, reduce body weight and save costs. It is expected to become the future development trend.
